"Stampede" for Lice Control
Application Points:
Controls lice eggs only (all lice – biting & sucking), but doesn’t kill adult lice
Apply to ALL cattle older than 3 months
Apply at the first cold spell in Autumn (usually April / May)
Only one application usually necessary for the year (product lasts 7 weeks)
Repeat after 7-8 weeks in severe infestations
Can be applied in moderately rainy weather (is “rainfast”)
Part the hair with a comb to get good skin contact
Weigh cattle with scales or a weight tape (do not under dose!)
How to prevent introduction of lice onto your property / animals:
New Stock – if they have visible lice, treat with pour-on product (eg Cydectin) first to kill adults, then Stampede a week or so later.
Avoid contact with neighbours cattle over fences
Warnings:
May cause minor irritation / twitching in some animals for 30 minutes post application
Do not use at the same time as another pour-on (like Cydectin)
Use only the supplied gun & tubing (product will damage most other rubber or plastic tubing & seals)
Don’t mix treated & untreated animals (do a whole mob at once, or ideally, all cattle on the property at once)
Meat with holding period – 10 days
We love this product & have used it since 2014 & have not had any problems with lice since, providing we treat all cattle on the property once in April. We still sometimes have itchy cattle, but we have found this is nearly always due to a mite, Chorioptes bovis, which can be a bugger to manage and sometimes devastating to the animal.
