Sales – Highland Cattle

Selected females and bulls are available at various times of the year, and we also hold an online auction once a year (see our Auctions page). For more information on what we have available right now, Contact Us.

We generally sell heifers after weaning and halter training (at 8-12 months), and cows pregnancy tested in calf (PTIC). Rest assured, these are show quality animals with unique pedigrees – they are true to type and would be at home in Scotland or in your paddock. Females that are not up to scratch are put through our beef program (see beef sales).

Bulls are available occasionally. We cut 95+% of the bull calves we produce (so we only have one for sale every 1-2 years). This is because we have a ready market for our steers as beef & hides and also pets, so steers are of significant value to us. We also have a reputation to uphold – if they are not good enough for us to use as a sire, we would not be selling the bull to any breeder. We believe that many of the bulls we cut would beat a lot of the bulls going around on the show circuit (personal thought). To us, if a bull can not significantly improve most of the Highland females in Australia (& has not got a unique enough pedigree to be used in most of these folds), then we would rather use him in our beef production program.

  • We pay for all registration and transfers with the AHCS on each animal.
  • PI negative – All animals are tested for Pestivirus PI (persistently infected) & are negative. (What is Pestivirus?)

  • Vaccinated – All animals are vaccinated (with 7-in-1 & Pestiguard), and drenched regularly for worms and lice.
  • All bulls are sold only after a recent, independent semen test & fertility evaluation.
  • They are paddock raised and have not been pushed along with grain – they are as they are.
