Comments:The same as the rest of this crop of embryo calves, Cowdenbeath was named after a town that we stayed at in our most recent trip to Scotland. Her sire, Jock of Cullerne, was one of the most influential bulls in Scotland, and indeed Australia 30 years ago, and thanks to AI, we can now utilise his genetics in our breeding at Bairnsley. Her dam has been shown many times and follows you in the paddock for a brush, has good feet and a great udder - Malda Dubh of Bairnsley, and is extremely fertile (She has taken to AI first time every time & been flushed - she has never had the pleasure of a bull!)
Cowden is showing some thickness and smoothness already. She is quite the feminine young calf, with a very quiet, curious nature. She has enough size and fleshing about her to be very handy both in the show ring, and as a breeding cow for beef production.
She will be trained with the Wannado natural cowmanship method and will be at a standard of being haltered and led around, and comfortable with touch (& of course a brush) all over. Being the age she is now, she will be weaned in April, and ready to go to her new home in May.
