Seumus Dubh is a Highland bull like no other that we have seen. He has thickness, correctness, muscling and more heel than you will ever see on a Highland. Add to this frame and strong toplines, as well as wonderful temperaments in his calves and you have a bull that can really add something to any fold.
We viewed Seumus Dubh in the flesh in 2018 when we visited Craigowmill, and seeing is indeed believing. He has power, yet a real calmness about him. Craigowmill is known for its functional breeding goals and unique pedigrees, and this guy is no exception.
♦ Sire - Panther 2nd vom Aignerhof is an Austrian born bull who was imported into Scotland by Ken & Eva Brown as a yearling. He was spotted up in the mountains in a paddock, at nearly 500kg at a year of age, just on pasture. A few months later he was at Craigowmill. Ken and Eva took quite a chance with importing a bull back into Scotland, but it paid off in spades. I saw Panther 2nd in 2010 and was very impressed by his excellent feet, volume, presence, and very docile nature. His progeny are now all over Scotland.
♦ Dam - Isla Dubh 2nd of Craigowmill has been a consistent producer at Craigowmill for many years. She is sired by the famous Gille Dubh 2nd of Rigg - a bull from the fold that kept the black gene in Highlands alive while nearly every other fold was breeding red.
