Comments:

This is an exceptional bull to get the opportunity to use as an AI sire. A very traditional type of Highland, Ceannard also has great feet, some considerable size and an exceptional set of hips and pins to boot. The width through this pelvic set up is what we have been looking to improve in our cattle (& most other Highlands that we see going around), and for a bull of his scale & fleshing ability, he still has an excellent shoulder transition.

Like most of the AI sires we import, Ceannard has not been shown, and so we know what we are getting. We have seen his calves on the ground (unfed & on unimproved country), and they impress from a growth rate & type perspective, but also that they are the uniform, cookie-cutter"" calves that we strive to create in our own paddock. He adds hair & refined, upward-pointing horns in his heifer calves, as well as improving depth of heel and scale. His calves also inherit his calmness, which goes without saying, is the number one characteristic that we breed for.
